Meet Engineer ELIKPLIM SENAYA

ELIKPLIM SENAYA( Elikplim Senaya) is a friend, a brother, an achiever and a true son of Ghana.

He had his basic education at the Bethel Basic School in Accra New Town, proceeded to Keta secondary where he read general science.


He then went to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

He is now an accomplished Engineer working with Chinese Telecommunication giant Huawei.

He is a member of the Ghana institute of Engineers and IEEE communications society.

He will be joining us for the maiden Zongo dream mentorship clinic on the 29th of November to inspire our younger brothers and sisters who are looking up to a career in Engineering.

Meet the tenacious ZAINABU ISSAH

●ZAINABU ISSAH( Hassi Baniaz) is a sister, a friend, an advocate and a born and raised Maamobi girl.She had her basic education at Sal-Valley Preparatory School in Kanda and then to Accra High School where she studied General Arts.

●Because of her passion for reading and writing, she proceeded to the Ghana Institute of Journalism and read Communication Studies. In her quest for more knowledge in the the communication field, she went back to GIJ to obtain a degree in Public Relations.


●Back in GIJ she was the first female Vice President of a male dominated Hall called the Osagyefo Hall. That was because the authorities thought her name ZAINABU ISSAH was a male name and so when they realised it was a female, they wanted to change it but she ridiculously refused.

●On accolades, she was one time awarded the best student in reporting by the Ghana Journalist Association(GJA) chapter of the school.

●Zainabu Issah now reports for the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL).
●She is a member of the Ghana Journalist Association(GJA) and the Institute of Public Relations Ghana (IPR).

A man of many talents--MOHAMMED AWUDU



●He is a perfect example of a man with many talents.The naturally gifted Artist, Mohammed( Moh Fsc Awudu) was born and raised in Nima. He attended Nima “2” Basic School and proceeded to the Ghanatta College of Arts and Design where his talent shortened an anticipated 4 year programme in arts to a month and subsequently obtained a Diploma in Arts and Design. He then left for Amibs College to obtain a degree in Arts and Design, where he left as the Best Student of the 2003 year group.

●In his quest to seek more knowledge, he sat for the British Council Painting and Graphics Certificate Exam(A and B levels) which he passed with distinction and won him the European Union Week rapid painting competition award.

●Mohammed is also a part time teacher at Nima Muhimanchi Art(NMA), an arts social club at the Kathy Knowles Library on the Kanda Highway where he teaches children who want to take up a career in arts.

●He has featured in a number of art projects across Ghana and West Africa.Some of which include Amatthan Art Workshop in Lagos (2010), Tabom Graffiti Project (2012), Nima for Peace project, Imagine Accra, The Message, Tales of Two cities, Chalewote Street Art Festival, Samsung Note Live Portrait Artist (2013) among

others.

●He has also worked with renowned international artists such as Alexandra Keto from Brazil, Harlen David from Germany, and Binho Ribeiro, one of the greatest graffiti writers in the world. In Ghana, he has worked with various artistes such as VIP now VVIP, Sidney , KK Fosu, D Black, Dj Mensa, Okyeame Kwame, Asem, Kwaw Kese, Riche, Mzbel, Praye , Tic tac , D banj, Tinny and others.

●He is also the CEO of Freestyle Clothing(A popular clothing line in the Nima neighborhood).

Meet our enterprising FAISAL IBRAHIM CISSE

FAISAL IBRAHIM CISSE(Faisal Ibrahim Cisse) is a friend, a brother, a political activist and in fact,my 'kubolor' mate during our makaranta days at Hamdaniyyah Islamic School in Accra New Town...lol! He started his education at Liberty Avenue, now Ernest Bruce Methodist School in Adabraka, Accra. He proceeded to Accra High School for his secondary education. After an abysmal performance in SSCE Examination, he buckled up and sat for a private SSCE and passed with distinction. 

●He proceeded to Zenith University College to study Business Information Systems under The Association of Business Executives(ABE) UK program where he one time had one of his papers adjudged the best globally which earned him a Top Paper Prize in 2007. 

●In 2007, he was elected the first President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at Zenith University College. 

●After completing his Advanced Diploma course at Zenith University College, he did his National Service at Parliament House of Ghana where he was assigned to the Parliamentary Committee on Works,Housing, Local Government and Rural Development.

●After his National Service, he was employed by EPP Books Services and at the age of 24 years, he was appointed as the company’s Country Manager in Sierra Leone. In Sierra Leone, through his leadership, his company won several contracts from institutions such as the Bank of Sierra Leone, Independent Media Commission, Institute of Public Administration and Management, Sierra Leone Library Board. He also improved upon the company’s image through media engagements and corporate social responsibility campaigns.

●He returned to Ghana in 2011 and started his Degree in Business Information Systems. In 2013, he was adjudged the Best Graduating Student with the highest GPA (3.9) ever recorded at Zenith University College. He is presently the Territorial Manager –Accra Central for EPP Books Services. 

●Faisal is also a political animal and a member of several political youth groups including Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG). He is also a spokesperson for Conservative Alliance Network (CAN) and again part of several social media group of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He is also a blogger and a writer with most of his articles published on reputable local websites like myjoyonline.comghanaweb.com,modernghana.com and other news print.

●He is an Associate Member of the Association of Business Executives(AMABE).He will be joining us for the maiden ZONGO DREAM MENTORSHIP CLINIC on the 29th of November to inspire our younger brothers and sisters who are looking up to a career in POLITICS,GOVERNANCE AND LEADERSHIP

Seth J . Bokpe: a rising media icon

Seth J . Bokpe  is a popular name in the nation's best selling and famous newspaper, Daily Graphic.

●He was born and raised in Accra New Town.He is a friend, a brother and a senior who personally mentored me in my basic school days as he was 2 years ahead of me and someone I looked up to whiles growing up.I personally believed he was destined to become a journalist, way before he stepped in the lecture halls of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) to acquire those certificates to back it up.

●He started his education at the famous Ghana County Preparatory School in Accra New Town and then proceeded to the Accra New Town junior high school, before finding his way to the West African Secondary School (WASS) where he studied Agriculture.

●Back in SHS, they used to have a hand written class newsletter called "THE HEADLINE".it was the most scandalous tabloid imaginable which he says was fun, actually heightened his passion for Journalism.

●But before then, he read every piece of printed paper he found on the ground and started writing featured articles for various newspapers, especially, The weekend Mirror when he was in JHS 2. Something I can personally attest to.

●After SHS, he enrolled at the Ghana Institute of Journalism ( GIJ ) for a Diploma in Communication Studies program, which he completed in 2009. In school,he was the vice-president of the Sutherland Hall and the organiser for the then Students In Free Enterprise ( SIFE ) now Enactus. He was again the Public Relations Officer for Journalists Human Rights (GIJ Chapter).

●After leaving the Journalism school, he joined Graphic Communications Group Limited as a national service personnel and was offered a contract after his service in 2010 and later full employment.

●In 2012, he again enrolled at the Journalism School to do a top up for his Bachelor Degree in Communication Studies which he completed this year.

●On exploits, he has reported several times for the reputable AfricaWatch Magazine on politics and entertainment. He has won 3 Ghana Journalist Association awards in Education (2013), Telecommunication and Rural reporting (Both in 2014).

●He has travelled for on the job training in South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Botswana and the United States of America where he observed the 2012 elections as an international press man.

●He is a member of the Ghana Journalist Association and loves to research, read, listen to music, watch movies and passionate about photography. He is a perfect example of a cyber resident because he spends his entire day and to some extent the night online.

All hail the lyrical Abdul Hamid Ibrahim

This mentor is a popular face in the GH music industry. He is a friend, a brother , an inspiration to a lot of youth in Ghana. His name is Abdul Hamid Ibrahim (aka Zeal of VVIP fame).

●Born and raised in both of the twin nieghbourhoods(Nima and Accra New Town).He had his basic school at Nuriya Islamic School in Nima,proceeded to the Haavad Secondary School in Kokomlemle where he studied General Arts.

●Right after leaving senior high school he gained admission to study in one of the reputable tertiary institutions in the country but chose to pursue his dream of becoming a musician.

 ●He teamed up with four of his neigbourhood friends and formed the legendary and the oldest hiplife musical group in Ghana VIP, now VVIP.

●They released their first album in 1998 titled, ‘Bibi Baa O’. Five years later, he and his colleagues took their career to the next level with their ‘Ahomka Womu’ album which topped the Ghanaian charts for over 20 weeks. Abdul Hamid, together with his colleagues has won loads of awards both in Ghana and international.

●He has shared musical stages with music kingpins like Snoop Dogg, Jay Z,John Legend, to name a few.

HABIB LANRY MAHMOUD is an IT geek

 I will need a full week to give a brief profile about this mentor.  HABIB LANRY MAHMOUD is a more than a brother, more than a friend, an entrepreneur, CEO extraordinaire, a doer always beaming with creativity.

●He was born in Dansoman but raised in Nima and started his education at Snaps JHS in Asylum down.Then to St.Johns Grammar School where he studied Business.

●Habib had passion for using the computer to creatively 'conjure' stuffs, and so right after SHS, he enrolled at the NIIT where he briefly studied computer science and electrical engineering.He further proceeded to Accra Polythecnic and obtained an HND in Marketing.

●After tertiary education, he worked at the National Identification Authority (NIA), Electoral Commission of Ghana and Vodafone Ghana before setting up his own marketing and advertising firm called Habib Concepts.6 years down the line, he has worked on several creative marketing and advertising materials for many companies. With resilience, tenacity and fortitude, the company now boasts of many clients across the region.

●He is also photo maniac and owns a photography company called( Olanrewaju Gh Photography) and Oh! Charley clothing: a popular youth fashion line in the Nima neighborhood. 

●He is currently taking further studies in Business Administration at the Data Link University.

Meet Inusah, a rising star in accountancy

The next mentor in the spotlight today is also a brother, an advocate and an ACCOUNTANT. Inusah Mohammed( Don Inusah Lorenzo) is his name.Born and raised in Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana. 

He had his basic education at Suhum Methodist School and proceeded to Suhum Secondary Technical School, (affectionately known as GREAT SUTESCO) where he pursued General Arts.

●He then proceeded to Accra Polytechnic in 2001 and studied the Diploma in Business Studies(Accounting Option) for 2 years, before topping it up with the Higher National Diploma(HND) in Accounting.

●Inusah is a finance and tax personnel who has worked in several public sector institutions. Some of which include the Controller and Accountant General Department, the then Internal Revenue Service(IRS) and VAT service, all now part of the Ghana Revenue Authority.Other private institutions he has worked include Edmark International, Airtel Ghana etc.He is currently the Credit Sales Supervisor at Afro Arab Company Limited in Accra.

●On leadership roles,he was someone who was active in student leadership during his days at Accra Polythecnic.He was a member of the General Council of Association of Polythecnic HND Accountancy Students (APHAS) and also severed as the Chairman of the Association's audit committee from 2005-2007.Inusah was also the financial secretary for the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA - A poly Chapter in 2006) and later became the president of the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) in 2007.He is the President of Ghana in Solidarity with Humanity(GISH), a social civic group championing humanitarian advocacy which recently held the Gaza Demo in Accra.
●He is currently taking further studies in the Association of Certified Chartered Accountant program (ACCA).

Meet Nabil, the Engineer turn Journalist

●Our mentor today is a popular face on etv Ghana every morning, from 6 - 7 am. He is also a friend, a brother, an achiever,and a dream chaser.NABIL AHMED RUFAI (Nabil Ahmed Rufai) was born and raised in Accra New Town.

●He started his education at the famous Deyoungsters International School(Nima) and proceeded to the Adisadel College where he studied science.He further proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology ( KNUST ) and studied Agricultural Engineering.

Growing up his dream was to become a medical doctor,but later realised his passion was in journalism and decided to pursue it.

●Nabil is now broadcast journalist with over 5 years experience in print media, radio and television broadcasting. He has worked with Focus FM in Kumasi, Prime FM/ Skyy TV in Accra and currently with eTV Ghana.He believes in the power of the media and wants to impact social change through his work.

●On leadership positions,he was the writers, Debaters and Drama Club President in Adisadel College and also the editor of the School's magazine for two consecutive years (2006 and 2007). He was the editor of the College of Engineering KNUST magazine for two consecutive years (2010 and 2011).

●He is a member of the International Journalist Network (IJNET), Journalist for Human Rights (JHR) and Commonwealth Writers.

Mohammed S. Tahir: passionate about youth development


Mohammed S. Tahir(MO S . Tahir (aka Coach Mo). Born and raised in New-Achimota –Accra.

He is a friend,a brother, an advocate, a basketball player, a coach and another 'kubolor mate.

●He attended St. Andrew Anglican school for his basic education and then to Siddiq Senior High School in Agona-Nyakrom.Not impressed with his SSCE results, he went back to SHS again by enrolling at the Ghana Lebanon Islamic School(GLISS) and read General Arts.

●Growing up, he was someone who had great passion for sports (basketball). Although not giving the tools and guidance then,he managed to learn a trick or two during his leisure time.

●He then joined a local basketball team then called Vikings that had their practice sessions at Kawukudi (Tamara Court) under a coach who made false promises of living an American dream (Every athletes dream) and made money on thier heads. He missed his college opportunities in Ghana because he was too blinded to realise the “American dream” was never going to come through.

With shattered dreams, Mohammed turned his passion to help protect the upcoming basketball talents from being exploited like the way he was.With this aim,he Co-Founded an NGO called DUNK- Grassroots to give children(especially those in Nima and nearby environs) opportunity to play, learn and grow.

Through sports, academics and leadership training, his outfit encourage these at-risk youth to be the change they want to see.

●Currently, he is the Program Manager of DUNK! and work in 4 different communities in and around Accra.He has also participated in seminars in Sweden, Germany, and United States to mention a few.

●Mohammed is also a ChangeMaker with ReachforChange. An international organization supporting promising social entreprenuers in across the world.

●Though not born and raised in any of the popular zongos,he had his makaranta education in Nima at Tafsiliyya Islamic School popularly known as (Mallam Hamza).he is one person who craves to see Zongo communities improved.
