Seth J . Bokpe: a rising media icon

Seth J . Bokpe  is a popular name in the nation's best selling and famous newspaper, Daily Graphic.

●He was born and raised in Accra New Town.He is a friend, a brother and a senior who personally mentored me in my basic school days as he was 2 years ahead of me and someone I looked up to whiles growing up.I personally believed he was destined to become a journalist, way before he stepped in the lecture halls of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) to acquire those certificates to back it up.

●He started his education at the famous Ghana County Preparatory School in Accra New Town and then proceeded to the Accra New Town junior high school, before finding his way to the West African Secondary School (WASS) where he studied Agriculture.

●Back in SHS, they used to have a hand written class newsletter called "THE HEADLINE".it was the most scandalous tabloid imaginable which he says was fun, actually heightened his passion for Journalism.

●But before then, he read every piece of printed paper he found on the ground and started writing featured articles for various newspapers, especially, The weekend Mirror when he was in JHS 2. Something I can personally attest to.

●After SHS, he enrolled at the Ghana Institute of Journalism ( GIJ ) for a Diploma in Communication Studies program, which he completed in 2009. In school,he was the vice-president of the Sutherland Hall and the organiser for the then Students In Free Enterprise ( SIFE ) now Enactus. He was again the Public Relations Officer for Journalists Human Rights (GIJ Chapter).

●After leaving the Journalism school, he joined Graphic Communications Group Limited as a national service personnel and was offered a contract after his service in 2010 and later full employment.

●In 2012, he again enrolled at the Journalism School to do a top up for his Bachelor Degree in Communication Studies which he completed this year.

●On exploits, he has reported several times for the reputable AfricaWatch Magazine on politics and entertainment. He has won 3 Ghana Journalist Association awards in Education (2013), Telecommunication and Rural reporting (Both in 2014).

●He has travelled for on the job training in South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Botswana and the United States of America where he observed the 2012 elections as an international press man.

●He is a member of the Ghana Journalist Association and loves to research, read, listen to music, watch movies and passionate about photography. He is a perfect example of a cyber resident because he spends his entire day and to some extent the night online.
